It's Springtime! Winter has its benefits if you don't mind less daylight and fewer outdoor activities. More time for restful and cozy evenings cuddled up with yarn and needles and my love resting in his easy chair. Growing up on a farm without livestock meant that my parents were "not racing from dawn to way past dusk planting, tilling and harvesting to perfection". They also seemed to enjoy preparing for the family Christmas festivities. They were not quite as busy through the winter season but there was still planning, purchasing and marketing to be done. One time I asked what was most important about their profession. They replied "it's being ready" for the precious days when the soil warms and the weather breaks and their opportunity to plant the annual crops. Raising a family I was glad for the shorter days and the reprieve from ballgames way past dark. The cardinals are also very visible in the winter season. I counted 28 beautiful birds at the neighbors barn feeders hanging from their tree. And, we see them peering in the windows and hopping around the back deck seeking water in the overturned deck chairs. My theory is they are social birds and are attracted to voices and the sound of music. Their distinct song always causes me to look to see if I can see their perch. When I am not watching for the cardinals I am sewing them these days. Sew see you later and talk to you soon. Please come visit us soon at Spring Street Retreat. Happy Springtime!
